Cindy Davis, Secretary
Cindy has been a Quality Systems Coordinator for Donor Network of Arizona, the organization entrusted with carrying out the wishes of organ, tissue, and eye donor heroes in the state of Arizona, since 2009. In the Quality industry since 1994, she is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and earned her Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification from ASQ in 2014. Her areas of expertise are performing procedural and medical donor chart audits, writing procedures, and training others.
Originally from Cass Lake, Minnesota, Cindy earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Bemidji State University. She taught Kindergarten for 3 years prior to her career in Quality, and she previously served on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit Vagabond Youth Theatre of Avondale, AZ. From 2003-2014 Cindy volunteered for the White Tanks Riding Stables in Waddell, AZ, guiding trail rides, providing horse care, and sometimes running the office. A lover of nature and animals, she is a member of the White Tank Mountains Conservancy, the Sierra Club Grand Canyon Chapter, and the Sonoran Audubon Society.
Cindy has been the Secretary of Silver Lining Riding's Board of Directors and a lesson volunteer since its inception in 2011. She believes in the power of horses to change, heal, and improve lives. She is continuously inspired by Silver Lining Riding's horses, clients, volunteers, and staff.
In her spare time, Cindy enjoys model horse showing, hiking, making jewelry, reading, writing, playing music, crocheting, Sirius XM Radio Classics, and learning languages. She returns home to northern Minnesota for vacations, where she enjoys spending time with family and restoring herself in the lakes and forests of the Leech Lake Indian Reservation.
Warren J. Hutson, President
Warren is a Business Initiatives Consultant for Wells Fargo Bank in Phoenix, AZ. He and his wife, Francine, are the parents of one child. He earned a BS degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Phoenix. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Blind Children.
Warren enjoys spending time with family, watching his daughter ride horses for therapy, attending AZ Diamondbacks games, and occasionally hitting the links for a little golfing.
Nicki Sims was a District Manager with Total Petroleum for 20 years. She started in Phoenix and later moved to Colorado, and after a year in Denver she moved to Ft. Collins where she was responsible for opening and operating all new convenience stores and truck stops in Northern Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. After retiring from Total she moved back to Phoenix, where she worked for Cricket Wireless until she retired. She has also owned businesses installing wallpaper and faux finishes.
She is now permanently retired and lives in Buckeye, AZ. While looking for volunteer opportunities, she discovered Silver Lining Riding and fell in love with the organization. She tells everyone, "It does my Heart good, to be a part of helping a student grow in confidence and strength from their first day. To see their smiles and how excited they are to ride is my therapy".
Nicki also enjoys riding horses and jet skis, attending Phoenix Mercury games, and spending time with family and friends.
Board Of Directors
Gregg E. Brown, Vice President
Gregg is the Manager of Data Center Operations for Choice Hotels International in Phoenix, AZ. He has worked for Choice Hotels for over 20 years in the IT field, the first 15 of which were at the corporate headquarters in Rockville, MD. Prior to working for Choice, Gregg taught computer science at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and Montgomery County Community College.
A former submarine sailor in the U.S. Navy, Gregg enjoys scuba diving with his wife. However, since moving to Arizona he has taken to horseback riding on his Clydesdale.
Dawn Brown, Treasurer
Dawn is the owner of AZ Business Consulting, a virtual accounting firm that focuses on the needs of nonprofit and small business clients. During her more than 30-year career she has served in the private sector as the CFO of both an educational nonprofit and a trade association. Dawn has spent the past 19 years in public accounting, the first 10 of which were in the Washington, D.C., CPA firm of Aronson & Company. Currently she is partnered with Sechler Morgan CPAs, PLLC.
Dawn has over 20 years of accounting and information technology experience with various accounting software as both a user and implementer, with specific expertise in the areas of accounting system design and data conversion. Dawn co-authored The Financial Management Handbook for Associations and Nonprofits published by ASAE, and she has written job-costing applications for the construction industry.
Dawn speaks and teaches about a number of nonprofit and technology topics, including starting a nonprofit, good board governance, raffles and gaming in nonprofits, and Quickbooks Online.
