And our story is still being written. With the help of dedicated volunteers, generous supporters, and an incredible herd, Silver Lining continues to grow, creating a place where horses heal, families connect, and lives are transformed.

Our Story

Silver Lining Riding began in 2011 with two horses, a handful of volunteers, and a dream to share the healing power of horses with the West Valley. Founded by Amanda Hart, our mission was simple: to make horseback riding and horsemanship accessible to individuals with physical, mental, cognitive, or emotional challenges.

What started small has grown into a vibrant program serving riders of all ages and abilities. Today, Silver Lining Riding has a team of 7 certified instructors, a dedicated herd of 10 horses, including 2 miniature horses who are crowd favorites, and more than 50 volunteers who make every lesson possible.

Each week, we provide adaptive riding and horsemanship lessons for 40+ riders, ranging in age from 4 to 90. Lessons are designed to support not just the rider, but the entire family, because we believe healing and growth happen best in community. Our barn is now a place where riders build confidence, families connect, volunteers find purpose, and horses play a central role in transforming lives.

From the very beginning, Silver Lining was designed to be a family experience. We believe that when one rider joins us, their whole family is part of the journey. That vision continues to shape our growth, welcoming siblings, parents, veterans, first responders, and entire families into the barn community.
