Our Board of Directors

  • David Fleming

David Fleming is a dedicated leader with over 30 years of military and federal government service. As a seasoned professional in law enforcement and the military with extensive training in continuous process improvement, David brings experience in managing people, budgets, and optimizing organizational processes.

A lifelong advocate for community involvement, David has a strong background in volunteer work, shaped by a career in the Air Force that instilled a dedication to service and teamwork. This dedication is evident in his ongoing commitment to supporting children with special needs through adaptive riding and horsemanship programs, inspired by personal connections and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by these families.

Having worked with horses during his youth and possessing a solid understanding of grant processes, David is positioned to create opportunities for growth and empowerment within this community.

He looks forward to leveraging his expertise to further the mission of Silver Lining Riding and to positively impact the lives of children and families participating.

  • Vicki Hanley

Vicki has been a communication professor in the valley since 2009. She has both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Studies from ASU and has taught at Glendale Community College, Grand Canyon University, and Carrington College.

As an expert in family communication, she created family meeting seminars which she presented to local associations and groups. Vicki also worked in HR for a local manufacturing plant where she was tasked with creating and facilitating classes to improve company culture.

Vicki joined Silver Lining Riding to help grow their impact in the Northwest valley. She wants to help Silver Lining Riding reach as many people as possible who might be struggling with an obstacle in life. Vicki has seen firsthand, through her daughter’s experiences as a long time horse owner and rider, what a positive impact a relationship with a horse can make.

  • Teamwork

Silver Lining Riding’s Board collaborates with everyone in the organization—instructors, volunteers, and horses—to create a powerful team that brings our mission of helping people overcome life’s obstacles through equine interaction to life.  We also seek and value partnerships within our community to allow our organization to grow and improve.  Together, we strive to provide a positive, inclusive, healthy experience for our students and their families.
